Meet Cameron Schambs and Justin Cygnor

Cameron Schambs, MSW-LSW

Social Worker

Prior to joining Lowenstein & Associates, Cameron Schambs spent three years working at The Buckeye Ranch, with its focus on the behavioral, emotional, and mental well-being of Central Ohio children and families. During that time, she did clinical work with individuals and families, as well as group sessions. She now works with all ages, bringing her knowledge of trauma-informed care, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to her current practice.

Cameron earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Ohio State University and went on to obtain her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. “I’m really open to working with all different types of clients and meeting them where they’re at,”she said. “I want to empower them to either take charge or feel more confident in whatever they need to figure out or process.”

In her free time, Cameron likes to bake and read. She’s also a cat owner. And she’s a big fan of Central Ohio, with its variety of things to do, the fun Ohio State culture, and many food places to explore.

Justin Cygnor, LSW

Licensed Social Worker

Justin Cygnor is the newest addition to the Lowenstein team, yet he brings a wide range of experience to the role. After graduating from Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice, he moved to Los Angeles to work in the entertainment industry. Then came the pandemic, which prompted a move back to Columbus. Relying on his undergraduate degree, he accepted a job at the Marysville Juvenile Correction Center. When a job opened up to work as a group counselor running the Center’s therapeutic groups with kids, it piqued his interest in mental health and he returned to Ohio State for a master’s degree in Social Work. That opened the door for a psychotherapist position at the detention center. After 5 years, he took his skills to the Groveport Madison School District where he took on the role of school social worker and psychotherapist. He eventually decided to pursue a career as a therapist in a private practice, and that brought him to Lowenstein & Associates.

“I love working here because people show up willing to make changes that will improve their mental health,” he said. “They want to get more education on how to feel better.” Although much of Justin’s experience has been with kids, he now works with clients of all ages. Regardless of age, he is quick to build a rapport with his clients.

It should be no surprise that after working in the entertainment industry, Justin is a big movie buff. He also loves to travel, and that includes many cruises and beach vacations.
